Carolyn,
I understand your position but Engineering and Planning would disagree. From both of their prospective it would be
better to have sidewalks everywhere than nowhere. Those areas that have "sidewalks to nowhere" should not have
happened, but they did. It would be much better if we were to commit ourselves to completing sidewalks than to
remove or ignore those that exist. But....in the end, this is why you get paid the big bucks, Council can decide which
direction you want to go.
Thank You,

There are some bizarre little stubs of sidewalks (some 10 feet long) in this end of town (my neighborhood). It really
doesn't make sense to have people fix them.

Hi Carolyn,
I live at 908 Sunrise Blvd (I'm Duncan's owner) and received my notice about fixing/replacing my sidewalk. I am one of
those lucky homeowners that has a sidewalk that goes nowhere, but even though it goes nowhere I am required to
replace it.This seems absurd, since I doubt that the homes located north of me will ever be required to put in sidewalks.
Even though this sidewalk will never be used, I am told by the city engineer that I am also not allowed to take out that
part of my sidewalk that is never used.
I don't even shovel the snow from the section that is now being replaced because I don't want anyone walking on it! If
someone walking on it was to actually walk down that section they would have to cross over the boulevard, through the
snow,to get to the road. No one does that! Even now during the summer no one walks across the boulevard to walk on
that section. They walk up my driveway if they are walking south and continue on the sidewalk that is south of me, or
walk down my driveway to walk in the road if they are walking north. I can honestly say that in the 20 years that I have
lived in our house, I have NEVER seen anyone walk on this sidewalk, but now I am supposed to pay whatever it costs to
replace it?This doesn't make sense!
I would have come to the meeting tonight to express my concerns but I am leaving town this afternoon and won't be
back until Wednesday. Please note my concerns over this portion of this program if anyone is tracking concerns or
comments about it.
Thanks for listening.
Mark

SIDEWALK REPAIR:5911 Dahlia Blvd. June 2, 2015
I received the repair notice today and after reading do not believe I should be responsible
for these sidewalk repairs. Please let me explain:
Around 2002 I completely replaced my driveway along with 10 sections of sidewalk.
In May of 2005 I had 2 sections of sidewalk near fire hydrant replaced per "Repair
Program" instructions. At this time the sidewalk was in near perfect condition except for
a section corner slightly raised by a tree root.
In March 2010 a water main broke near the southwest corner of house. This main
belonged to South View Mobile Home Court. The Water Works worked all Saturday
night and into Sunday morning. The main was repaired and water turned on. The hydrant
was opened to flush line. When the hydrant was closed it would not shut off completely.
The next day the hydrant was dug up and replaced. Steve Kerns was a Supervisor on this
call and remembers it well.
After months and years the ground has settled considerably causing the sidewalk to also
settle causing the unacceptable condition.
I have had considerable expense and labor just trying to get my lawn back to normal. I
have to get another load of dirt this summer to get my lawn level.
Please find attached photos of mess. I wasn't home at the time of hydrant replacement to
get pictures.
Thank you for your consideration, Gerald Crowe
