RESOLUTION NO. 2020-94 RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $496,000, FOR A FEDERAL-AID SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BLOCK GRANT, COVERING DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC SIGNAL FIBER OPTICS AND TRAFFIC MONITORING CAMERAS, BOUND BY WALNUT, MULLAN, WASHINGTON, AND 6TH STREETS, DOT PROJECT NUMBER STBG-SWAP-8155(769)--SG-07, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT. WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation Policy provides Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program funds on a competitive basis for projects to preserve and improve the conditions and performance on any Federal-aid highway, bridge projects on any public road, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and transit capital projects; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Waterloo to avail itself of financial assistance through the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program as administered by the Department of Transportation. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa, as follows: 1) The STBG application Covering Downtown Traffic Signal Fiber Optics and Traffic Monitoring Cameras, bound by Walnut, Mullan, Washington, and 6th Streets, DOT Project Number STBG-SWAP-8155(769)--SG-07, in an amount not to exceed $496,000, is hereby approved and endorsed by the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa. 2) The improvement provided for in this application will be dedicated to public use and adequately maintained b the City of Waterloo. q Y Y tY o. 3) The City of Waterloo assures the Iowa Department of Transportation that funds for the local match have been committed to the STBG project. 4) The Mayor is hereby designated as the official representative of the City and is further hereby directed and authorized to affix his signature to said application.
