Veterans Memorial Hall
Members present: Craig White in the Chair, Scott McDonald, Don Ticknor, Marilyn Robinson,
Jim Petersent, Mike Mrzlak, and Jim Lentfer.
Absent: Randy Miller, Marcia Courbat,Mel Wittwer, and John Mrzlak(A).
Also in Attendance: Nancy Higby, Administrative Secretary, Dick Hastings, Rodney Butz,
DAV.
Moved by Petersen, seconded by Ticknor, that the Agenda be approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion
carried.
Moved by Ticknor, seconded by Petersen, that the Minutes of November 28, 2018, be approved.
Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
Citizen's Oral Comments
None.
Treasurer's Report
None. Marcia Courbat was absent.
Chairperson's Report
Craig White reported on the various fund raising events for the 2019 Honor Flights.
Committee Reports
Building, Grounds & Operations—(vacant)
No report was provided—this chair is currently vacant.
Dick Hastings did attend the meeting and introduced Rodney Butz, who has submitted his
application for appointment to the Mayor's office. If appointed, he will replace Mr. Hastings in
representing Disabled American Veterans#11.
There was some discussion on how to proceed in filling the vacancy of this chair. It was
generally agreed that Mel Wittwer (absent) should be considered, with a suggestion that Jim
Lentfer chair Artifacts Preservation.
Education/Historical—Chairperson Randall Miller
None. Randy Miller was absent.
Finance/Fundraising—Chairperson Marcia Courbat
None. Marcia Courbat was absent.
Artifacts Preservation—Chairperson Mel Wittwer
None. Mel Wittwer was absent.
Unfinished Business
Jim Petersen had submitted his application for re-appointment, however the Mayor has not yet
approved because of questions on his ability to serve the full term.
Jim explained that he will be moving away sometime after July 1, 2019, but is committed to
serve until then.

Moved by McDonald, seconded by Ticknor, to accept the limited term Mr. Petersen can serve
and authorize Nancy Higby, Secretary,notify the Mayor's office. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
New Business
Jim Lentfer explained that he recently had the opportunity to visit the State Capitol after drafting
changes to current legislation defining and qualifying who should be recognized as a Veteran.
He submitted his proposed changes and commented that he is feeling encouraged and hopeful.
With no further business before the commission, it was moved by McDonald, seconded by
Ticknor, that the meeting be adjourned at 5:17 p.m. Ayes: Ten. Motion carried.
