ORDINANCE NO. L
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2644 KNOWN AS THE TRAFFIC
ORDINANCE BY REPEALING SECTION 322, MONTHLY PARKING, AND SECTION
329(d) REGARDING PARKING FINES AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW
SECTION 322, MONTHLY PARKING, AND NEW SECTION 329(d) REGARDING
PARKING FINES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, that:
Section 1
Section 322, Monthly Parking, of the Traffic Ordinance of the City of
Waterloo is hereby repealed in its entirety; and that new Section 322,
Monthly Parking, is hereby enacted in lieu thereof as follows:
Sec. 322. MONTHLY PARKING.
Individual parking spaces in either parking ramps or parking lots as
previously designated may be reserved for monthly parking upon payment of
the required fee when such fee and individual parking spaces are so
designated by resolution of the City Council; and upon payment of the
required fee a parking sticker shall be issued and displayed in a prominent
location on the window of the vehicle. The monthly parking fees for
individual parking spaces in either parking ramps or parking lots shall
be established as follows:
(a) The monthly parking fee for reserved private parking in parking
ramps shall be twenty dollars ($20.00) ;
(b) The monthly parking fee for unreserved parking in parking ramps
shall be fifteen dollars ($15.00) ; and
(c) The monthly parking fee for parking lots shall be ten dollars
($10.00) .
Section 2.
Section 329(d) regarding parking fines of the Traffic Ordinance of the
City of Waterloo is hereby repealed in its entirety; and that new Section
329(d) is hereby enacted in lieu thereof as follows:
(d) Any other facts, a knowledge of which is necessary to a thorough
understanding of the circumstances attending such violation; each such
police officer or person authorized to do so by the Council of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa, shall also attach to such vehicle a notice to the owner
or operator thereof that such vehicle has been parked in violation of
either Section 324, 325, 326, 327 or 328 and instructing such owner or
operator to report at the office of the City Clerk of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, in regard to such violation. Each such owner or operator may, within
twelve (12) hours after the time when such notice was attached to such
vehicle, deposit the sum of one dollar ($1.00) in a meter fine collection
box provided for such purpose, and installed at various locations within the
City of Waterloo, as a penalty for and in full satisfaction in violation
of Section 325. If such owner or operator shall fail to pay the aforesaid
penalty of one dollar ($1.00) in the manner herein provided then such owner
or operator may, within forty-eight (48) hours of the time when such notice
was attached to such vehicle, pay the office of the City Clerk of the
City of Waterloo, Iowa, as a penalty for and in full satisfaction in violation
of Section 325, the sum of one dollar and fifty cents($1.50) . If such
owner or operator shall fail to pay the aforesaid penalty of one dollar
and fifty cents ($1.50) in the manner herein provided then such owner or
operator may, within one hundred and sixty-eight (168) hours of the time
when such notice was attached to such vehicle, pay the office of the City
Clerk of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, as a penalty for and in full satisfaction
in violation of Section 325, the sum of five dollars ($5.00) . The failure
of such owner or operator to make proper payment within one hundred and
sixty-eight (168) hours shall render such owner or operator subject to the
penalties hereinafter provided in Section 330.
