SUBJECT: TREE SPRAYING ON THE LEVEE SYSTEM

Recommended City Council Action:
The Engineering Department is asking for permission to take bids on this work.
Summary Statement
During the inspection of the levee system last fall, most of the levee needs to be sprayed to control
tree growth. About one-half of the levee system will be sprayed this year and the other half will be
sprayed next year. The areas to be sprayed this year are as follows:
(1) Cedar River from Cedar Bend Park to 3500 feet West
(2) Cedar River between Conger Street and the Railroad Bridge
(3) Cedar River from Cedar River Park to the E. First Street
(4) Cedar River from Conger Street to 2000 feet West
(5) Cedar River between Conger Street and W. 1st Street
(6) Black Hawk Creek between Highway 218 and River Road
(includes both sides of the creek)
Expenditure Required TBD at bid opening

This project will be paid for out of the Flood Control Budget, which is G.O. Bond Funds.
