AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL IN ITS ENTIRETY SECTION 9-2 OF
CHAPTER 9 OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO CODE OF ORDINANCES,
ORDINANCE NO. 2441, AMENDMENTS TO BUILDING CODE, SUB-
SECTION 1, AND ADOPTING IN LIEU THEREOF THE FOLLOWING
NEW SUBSECTION 1,
AS DESCRIBED HEREIN.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa:
That Section 9-2 of Chapter 9 of the City of Waterloo Code of Ordinances,
Ordinance No. 2441, Subsection 1, is hereby repealed in its entirety; that
new Subsection 1 is hereby enacted in lieu thereof, and Section 9-6(c) is
hereby added to the City of Waterloo Code of Ordinances, as follows:
Section 9-2. Amendments to Building Code
The provisions of the Building Code of the City are hereby amended as
follows:
Subsection 1. Chapter 3 of the Building Code of the City of Waterloo shall
not apply to new construction of accessory buildings of one hundred (100)
square feet or less and minor repairs not exceeding One Thousand Dollars
($1,000.00) , including materials and labor, in connection with one and two-
family dwellings. Minor repairs shall include, but not be limited to, the
following:
(a) Any floor, stairs, wall, or ceiling work done to refurbish
deteriorated material.
(b) Counter or cabinet tops, but not the remodeling of cabinets
or fixtures which becomes a permanent part of the structure.
(c) Repair or replacement of deteriorated roofing or siding and
gutters.
(d) Awnings and canopies entirely supported by the structure, or
fences which do not alter the structure of the dwelling.
(e) Sidewalks, driveways, foundations, chimneys and exterior steps
as a repair or replacement of deteriorated areas.
(f) Such other minor repairs of a similar nature as determined by
the Building Official.

corporations att ting to the applicant's previo work
experience in the onstruction field.
3. Signatgie of the Bu lding Official attesting that he has reviewed
the pplication, and 'n the event of the lack of the 'gnature
of he Building Offici 1, appeal ma 'be made to the Bui ing
A peals Board as provided under th7City Building Code.
