Submitted by: Dan Trelka, Director of Safety Services Recommended City Council Action: Grant permission to begin recruitment process and appoint up to twelve Reserve Police Officers to the Reserve Unit. Summary Statement: We have numerous reserve officer positions open due to recent resignations from the unit. We would request permission to begin the recruitment process to facilitate up to twelve replacements. Expenditure Required: Yes Source of Funds: Funds Allocated from the FY12 budget. Policy Issue: None Alternative: None Background Information: The Police Department has had an active Reserve Unit since 1958. We try to maintain an active unit with up to twenty-four members. At this time the unit has twelve active members.
