Members absent: Peyton. Also present: Rick Hurtado, Suzy Schares. Moved by Dennis, seconded by Ticknor that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Eleven. Moved by Dennis, seconded by McMahon that the Minutes of August 28, 2013, be approved. Ayes: Eleven. Citizens Oral Comments None Treasurer's Report Marcia Courbat gave the Treasurer's Report. Ms. Courbat reported that the Commission has sold 2,826 bricks at $50.00 each and 5 bricks at $250.00 each, with a balance of $9,06,9.53 in the Brick Fund. ( ��,� AC �� 'V V�ti_ �� �� \cz_."� k -"DEG L c (\ o Chairperson's Report Chairperson White reported that the honor flight are finished for this year. There will be three next year. A fundraiser will be held at Electric Park Ballroom on November 22, 2013 that will include a band and a silent auction. Committee Reports Building, Grounds & Operations —Richard Hastings reported that the new shades are up. The old shades from upstairs will be used in the boiler room. Shades for the men's restroom were not ordered so they will be replaced with old ones. A box will be made to go under the mail drop. The Gold Star frames will get hung on the trim. So far nothing has been found that is strong enough toharnrthe Freedom Shrine on. The Civil War roundtable was last Wednesday and they recommended contacting a professor at Wartburg to get the Civil War Diary copied. A child's drawing was placed in the mailbox. The downspouts have not been worked on. Hawkeye alarm will get a quote,fer putting in a fan. Educational/Historical-Randall Miller noted that there is six weeks until Veteran's Day and the celebration needs to be planned. The USS Robinson was held a few weeks ago and they said this was the most welcome they have been at any location. The USS Enterprise will be holding their reunion at Memorial Hall. The sound system had a few issues. Finance/Fundraising—Marcia Courbat noted that she is working on getting a donation for a TV. She wrote a letter to the editor at the Courier to advertise bricks and the upcoming 100 year anniversary. Mr. White suggested putting it in the Cedar Falls and LaPorte City newspapers. 'orms were distributed at the UAW picnic. Operations —Michael Dennis reported that the Gold Star Mothers frames have been repaired. Sons of the Union donated $750 to repair memorabilia. Unfinished Business Mr. Dennis sent a letter to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War declining accepting any additional memorabilia. September 25, 2013 Page 2 New Business Mr. Ambrosy thanked the Hall for sending flowers when his wife passed away. With no further business before the Commission, it was moved by Ticknor, seconded by Hastings that the meeting be adjourned at 5:38 p.m. Ayes: Eleven.
