RESOLUTION NO. 2020-272
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN APPLICATION TO THE
BLACK HAWK COUNTY METROPOLITAN AREA
TRANSPORTATION POLICY BOARD, FOR SURFACE
TRANSPORTATION BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FUNDING,
IN CONJUNTION WITH THE HESS ROAD
RECONSTRUCTION AND COMPLETE STREETS PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Black Hawk County Metropolitan Area Transportation Policy Board
(MPO) oversees and allocates federal funding and state swap funding through the Surface
Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program, and annually accept applications to program the
funding for qualifying projects, and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Waterloo to avail itself of financial
assistance through the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program as administered by the
Department of Transportation.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa, as
follows:
1) The MPO STBG FY 2021-2021 application in conjunction with the Hess Road
Reconstruction and Complete Streets Project, in an amount not to exceed $1,800,000, is
hereby approved and endorsed by the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa.
2) The improvement provided for in this application will be dedicated to public use and
adequately maintained by the City of Waterloo.
3) The City of Waterloo assures the Iowa Department of Transportation that funds for the
local match have been committed to the STBG project.
4) The Mayor is hereby designated as the official representative of the City and is further
hereby directed and authorized to affix his signature to said application.
