Summary Statement: On January 3'a, 2031, Officer Michael Wheaton retired and on January 29th, 2013 Officer Cory Allspach retired on disability from the Police Department. We have a current civil service list and are requesting to hire replacement officers for those positions. Expenditure Required: Source of Funds: General Fund Policy Issue: None Alternative: None. Background Information: This is a budgeted position and to maintain our current staffing levels, lessens the cost of overtime, and to fulfill the requirements of the federal COPPS grant, we are requesting to fill this vacancy. Submitted by: Dan Trelka, Director of Safety Services Recommended City Council Action: Grant permission to begin Civil Service Testing Process for Police Recruit. Summary Statement: We currently have three vacancies due to a recent retirements and one termination. We do have a current Civil Service list for Police Officer but that the list will expire on March 16`', 2013. We would request permission to begin this testing process to facilitate the replacements. Expenditure Required: Yes Source of Funds: Funds allocated in the FY 13 budget process Policy Issue: None Alternative: None Background Information: It is imperative that we have a list of replacements to lessen the cost of overtime associated with contractually obligated vacation scheduling for 2013 and to maintain adequate shift staffing levels and maintain the contractual obligation of the federal COPPS grant. Summary Statement: I am requesting permission to move forward with the process to fill the currently funded position of Construction Foreman, vacant due to the promotion of Travis Nichols to the position of Facilities/Project Manager. After a Civil Service List has been certified for this position I will take my appointment directly to City Council for approval.
