Because I primarily work in real estate law, I have been able to assist on a number of closings wherein homebuyers have received assistance through Waterloo Community Development. It has been a joy to see the sense of pride and accomplishment that these individuals have as they close on their new home. Through my volunteer work with the Job Foundation (which teaches financial literacy skills to at -risk children in Waterloo), I have developed a passion for ensuring that our next generation be equipped with the skills to minimize the risk of poverty in their adult lives. Additionally, I have been able to increase my knowledge and experience in committee -based budget review process through my service on the finance committee of Prairie Lakes Church that has an annual budget of $5 million and 5 church campuses statewide. I believe that my passion for serving Waterloo's low-income population, my professional aptitude relating to real estate and my experience within the committee -based budget review process would help ensure that I would be an asset to the Community Development Board.
