SUBJECT: Permission to begin the recruitment process for Property/Evidence
Coordinator and hire to fill that vacancy from the resulting civil service list.

Recommended City Council Action: Approval to begin the civil service process to replace the
Property/Evidence Coordinator, and fill the position from the civil service list.
Summary Statement: On April 10`h, 2012 Virgil Carson, Property Evidence Coordinator will be
retiring from the department and we do not have a current civil service list to fill the vacancy.

Alternative: None.
Background Information: There are only two employees that work in the property evidence
section of the department, the Property/Evidence Coordinator and Property/Evidence
Technician. This position will need to be filled as soon as possible to avoid any interruption in the
collection and preservation of evidence received by the department.
