SUBJECT: Battalion Chief Position

Recommended City Council Action: Approve replacing retiring Battalion Chief
Summary Statement: Battalion Chief Boesen is retiring in early January and we would like to
move forward with the civil service process.

Source of Funds: In FYE 2012 budget. 010-12-1400.1111 (salaries)

Background Information:
We currently do not have an active list for Battalion Chief and it is our desire to have a list in
place in early December. The Battalion Chief position is extremely important to our fire
operations and we would like the ability to promote as soon as Battalion Chief Boesen has
retired.
