AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, THE
PURPOSE OF WHICH IS TO PROVIDE MINIMUM REQUIRE-
MENTS FOR THE PROTECTION OF LIFE, LIMB, HEALTH,
PROPERTY, SAFETY, AND WELFARE OF THE GENERAL
PUBLIC AND THE OWNERS AND OCCUPANTS OF RESIDENTIAL
BUILDINGS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA;
Section 1. That a certain document, three (3) copies of which are on file
in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Waterloo, Iowa; being marked
and designated as "Uniform Housing Code, 1976 Edition, published in 1976 by
The International Conference of Building Officials", be, and the same is
hereby adopted as the Housing Code of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, the
purpose of which is to provide minimum requirements, for the protection of
life, limb, health, property, safety, and welfare of the general public
and the owners and occupants of residential buildings; and providing
penalties for the violation thereof;
Section 2. That the "Uniform Housing Code, 1976 Edition, published in 1976
by The International Conference of Building Officials", on file in the
office of the City Clerk and which is herein referred to, is adopted and
made a part hereof as if fully set out in this Ordinance.
Section 3. That Ordinance No. 2389 together with all amendments thereto,
known as "The Housing Code of the City of Waterloo", as adopted February 7,
1967, and also known as Chapter 19 of the Waterloo Code of Ordinances, and
all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
Section 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause the same to be published.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall become effective on and after the first
working day after its publication as required by the laws of this City and
State.
