I have served on the state Community Actions Agency Commission in Des Moines as a representative from Black Hawk County from 2008-2013. This was an appointment from the Governor's office which assisted agencies such as Operation Threshold from around the state. I also chaired the Commission in 2012-2013 until my appointment status ended. In addition I served as a member of the State Human Rights Board in Des Moines from 2011-2013 until my term expired last year. Also I represented the state chapter of the NAACP in meetings with Governor Branstad on issues that African Americans face in Black Hawk County. Currently I work for the Iowa Accountability Program where I monitor court processes regarding safety to domestic violence victims in Black Hawk County.
