Dear Mayor Clark and Council:
RECEIVED JUN,(2 2011
This letter is in reference to Metropolitan Transit Authority Board Members terms in office.
According to our records, three (5) Waterloo Board Members terms will expire on June 30, 2011.
It is my understanding that board appointees may only serve two, three year terms. It is also my
understanding that a member may be reappointed to an additional three year term, at the option
of the Mayor and Council. If this policy is still in effect, my recommendations would be as
follows;
Akela McDonald:,
Akela was appointed on July 1, 2009 to fill a vacant seat that expired on June 30, 2011. Akela
has been a strong transit advocate and has served the MET Board very well. I would recommend
reappointment.
Sally Meyers;
Sally was appointed to the board on September 1, 2008 for a term to expire on June 30, 2011.
Sally also has been a strong transit advocate and has served the MET Board very well. In January
of 2011, Sally was elected Vice -Chairperson of the board. I would recommend reappointment.
Cindy Wells;
Cindy was appointed to the board on September 1, 2008 for a term to expire on June 30, 2011.
Cindy also has been a strong transit advocate and has served the MET Board very well. I would
recommend reappointment.
Michelle Weidner;,
Michelle was appointed to the board on July 1, 2002. Michelle's current term is set to for a term
to expire on June 30, 2011. Since her appointment Michelle has served on the Administrative
Committee and Vice -Chairperson and has been my direct contact with the city of Waterloo.
Michelle's input and direction on financial issues have been most valuable to MET. Participation
on our board has never been a problem with Michelle, she has always been willing to help out in
anyway she can. I would recommend reappointment.
Star Rupe;
Star was appointed to the board on September 1, 2008 for a term to expire on June 30, 2011. Star
has had some work conflicts that have prevent her from attending most meetings. I believe now,
that those issues have been resolved and hopefully Star's attendance will improve. That being the
case, I would recommend reappointment.
If you have any questions, or comments, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mark Little, CCTM
General Manager
Metropolitan Transit Authority
of Black Hawk County
