ORDINANCE NO. 3 `
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2644, KNOWN AS THE TRAFFIC
ORDINANCE BY ADDING SECTION 271, STOPPING ON TRAVELED WAY, AND
SECTION 272, DISABLED VEHICLE.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, that:
New Section 271, Stopping on Traveled Way, and new Section 272, Disabled
vehicle, are hereby added to Ordinance No. 2644, known as the Traffic
Ordinance, as follows:
Sec. 271. STOPPING ON TRAVELED WAY.
No person shall stop, park, or leave standing any vehicle, whether
attended or unattended, upon the paved or improved or main traveled part
of the highway when it is practical to stop, park, or so leave such
vehicle off such part of said street, but in every event a clear and
unobstructed width of at least twenty feet of such part of the street
opposite such standing vehicle shall be left for the free passage of other
vehicles and a clear view of such stopped vehicle be available from a
distance of two hundred feet in each direction upon such street; provided,
however, school buses may stop on street for receiving and discharging
pupils and all other vehicles shall stop for school buses which are stopped
to receive or discharge pupils.
Sec. 272. DISABLED VEHICLE.
Section 271 shall not apply to the driver of any vehicle which is
disabled while on the paved or improved or main traveled portion of a
street in such manner and to such extent that it is impossible to avoid
stopping and temporarily leaving such disabled vehicle in such position.
