AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 23-38, ENTITLED "PEDDLERS REQUIRED
TO OBTAIN LICENSE; LICENSE FEES", AND SECTION 23-43,ENTITLED
"SOLICITORS AND AGENTS: LICENSE REQUIRED; CHARGE FOR LICENSE;
REFERENCES TO BE FURNISHED PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF LICENSE", OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA; AND ENACTING IN LIEU
THEREOF NEW SECTION 23-38, ENTITLED "PEDDLERS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN
LICENSE; LICENSE FEES," AND NEW SECTION 23-43, ENTITLED "SOLICITORS
AND AGENTS: LICENSE REQUIRED; CHARGE FOR LICENSE; REFERENCES TO
BE FURNISHED PRIOR TO ISSUANCE OF LICENSE."
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa:
That Section 23-38, entitled "Peddlers Required to Obtain License;
License Fees," and Section 23-43, entitled "Solicitors and Agents:
License Required; Charge for License; References to be Furnished Prior
to Issuance of License," of the Code of Ordinances, City of Waterloo,
Iowa, are hereby repealed in their entirety; that new Section 23-38,
entitled "Peddlers Required to Obtain License; License Fees," and new
Section 23-43, entitled "Solicitors and Agents: License Required;
Charge for License; References to be Furnished Prior to Issuance of
License," are hereby enacted in lieu thereof as follows:
Sec. 23-38. Peddlers required to obtain license; license fees.
No person shall carry on or engage in the business of peddling in
the city without first procuring a license therefor, and paying a license fee
of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) per day.
Sec. 23-43. Solicitors and agents: License required; charge for license;
references to be furnished prior to issuance of license.
No person shall carry on or engage in the business of soliciting or
taking orders for magazines, periodicals and other commodities, to be
delivered at some future date in the city, without first procuring a
license therefor. A Fifteen Dollar ($15.00) fee for each day the license
is in effect shall be paid for each license, but before the license can
be issued, the applicant therefor shall furnish satisfactory references to
the mayor showing that he is a proper and reliable person to carry on such
a business, and no such license shall issue prior to five (5) days after
the application is completed.
