AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2644 MOWN AS THE TRAFFIC
ORDINANCE BY REPEALING SECTION 124, REPORTING ACCIDENTS, AND
SECTION 127, ACCIDENT REPORT BY PEACE OFFICER, AND ENACTING IN
LIEU THEREOF NEW SECTION 124, REPORTING ACCIDENTS, AND SECTION
127, ACCIDENT REPORT BY PEACE OFFICER.
BE IT ORDAINED BY the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa:
That Section 124, Reporting Accidents, and Section 127, Accident Report
by Peace Officer, of Traffic Ordinance No. 2644, are hereby repealed in
their entirety; and that new Section 124, Reporting Accidents, and new
Section 127, Accident Report by Peace Officer, are hereby enacted in lieu
thereof as follows:
Sec. 124. REPORTING ACCIDENTS.
The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to
or death of any person shall immediately by the quickest means of communication
give notice of such accident to the office of the Chief of Police.
The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to
or death of any person, or total property damage to an apparent extent of
Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250) or more shall also, within seventy-two (72)
hours after such accident, give a report in person to the Traffic Division
of the Waterloo Police Department.
Sec. 127. ACCIDENT REPORT BY PEACE OFFICER.
Every peace officer, who in the regular course of his duty, investigates
a motor vehicle accident of which report must be made as required in this
section, either at the time of and at the scene of the accident or thereafter
by interviewing participants or witnesses, shall within seventy-two (72) hours
after completing such investigation, file a written report of such accident to
the traffic division.
