engineering, design work, contract documents, bidding assistance, submittal
reviews and on -site meetings with construction personnel related to the Five
Sullivan Brothers Convention Center Audio/Visual Sound System project. —

SUBJECT: Asbestos Removal Contract No. 141-AR-10-22-12-NSP

Recommended City Council Action: Authorize bid process and approve Plans and
Specifications for removal of asbestos from four (4) structures: 523 Dawson Street, 311
Adams Street, 426 Adams Street, 425 Almond Street. Bids will be due on October 15,
2012 and awarded on October 22, 2012.
Summary Statement: Request that successful low bidder/contractor remove asbestos in
preparation for the demolition of the structures and site clearance.
Expenditure Required: Estimate: $17,000.00. A public hearing will be required.
Source of Funds: Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) Funds.
Policy Issue: Elimination of Slum and Blight.
Alternative: None. Removal required by State and Federal law.
Background Information: Eligible property owners signed consent to demolish due to
property being in a state of disrepair.

Approval to seek qualifications for professional service agreement for engineering, design work,
contract documents, bidding assistance, submittal reviews and on -site meetings with construction
personnel related to the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center Audio/Visual Sound System
project.
Summary Statement: The current sound system contains original parts as well as some upgrades.
This will allow replacement of an older inefficient sound system to be replaced with a new modern
sound system.
