ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2644, KNOWN AS THE TRAFFIC
ORDINANCE, BY REPEALING SECTION 501 ENTITLED "PROJECTING LOADS ON
PASSENGER VEHICLES", SECTION 502 ENTITLED "LOADING BEYOND FRONT",
AND SECTION 502 ENTITLED " SPILLING LOADS ON STREETS OR ALLEYS",
AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW SECTION 501 ENTITLED "PROJECTING
LOADS ON PASSENGER VEHICLES" AND NEW SECTION 502 ENTITLED " SPILLING
LOADS ON STREETS OR ALLEYS".
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa:
That Section 501 entitled "Projecting Loads on Passenger Vehicles", Section 502
entitled "Loading Beyond Front", and Section 502 entitled "Spilling Loads on
Streets or Alleys" are hereby repealed; and new Section 501 entitled "Projecting
Loads on Passenger Vehicles" and new Section 502 entitled "Spilling Loads on
Streets or Alleys" are hereby enacted in lieu thereof.
Section 501 PROJECTING LOADS ON PASSENGER VEHICLES
(1) No passenger-type vehicle shall be operated on any highway with any load
carried thereon extending beyond the line of the fenders of the left side of such
vehicle nor extending more than six inches beyond the line of the fenders on the
right side thereof.
(2) The load upon any vehicle operated alone, or the load upon the front vehicle
of a combination of vehicles, shall not extend more than three feet beyond the
front wheels of such vehicle or the front bumper of such vehicle if it is equipped
with such a bumper.
Section 502 SPILLING LOADS ON STREETS OR ALLEYS
No vehicle shall be driven or moved on any highway, street, or alley unless such
vehicle is so constructed or loaded as to prevent any of its load from dropping,
sifting, leaking, or otherwise escaping therefrom, except that sand may be dropped
for the purpose of securing traction, or water or other substance may be sprinkled
on a roadway in cleaning or maintaining such roadway.
