AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 7-62 ENTITLED "POWERS OF HUMANE AND
POLICE OFFICERS" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, AND
ENACTING NEW SECTION 7-62 ENTITLED " POWERS OF MEMBERS OF CITY HEALTH
DEPARTMENT, HUMANE AND POLICE OFFICERS".
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa:
That Section 7-62 entitled "Powers of Humane and Police Officers" of the
Code of Ordinances, City of Waterloo, Iowa, is hereby repealed; that new
Section 7-62 entitled "Powers of Members of City Health Department, Humane
and Police Officers" of the Code of Ordinances, City of Waterloo, Iowa,
is hereby enacted.
Section 7-62. Powers of Members of City Health Department, Humane and
Police Officers.
In addition to any police officer of this city, any member of the
Health Department or an officer of the humane society shall have police
powers in the enforcement of this article, and no person shall interfere with,
hinder, molest or abuse any humane officer or member of the Health Department
in the exercise of such powers. For the purpose of discharging the duties
imposed by this article and to enforce its provisions, any member of the
Health Department, any police officer or humane officer is empowered to enter
upon any premises upon which a dog, cat, horse or other animal is kept or
harbored, and to demand the exhibition by the owner of a dog or cat and the
exhibition of rabies vaccination tag, and to investigate possible cruelty cases.
