RESOLUTION NO. 2008-958 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, SUPPORTING COMMONBOND COMMUNITIES' APPLICATION FOR LOW INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDIT . WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa has been informed by CommonBond Communities that a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Application (will or has been) filed with the Iowa Finance Authority for the development of affordable rental housing to be located at the southeast corner of Newell and Mobile Streets, Waterloo, Iowa with a legal description as follows : Unplatted Waterloo East all that part of the Northeast 1q of the Northeast �14 of Section 24 Township 89 Range 13 lying West of the West line of Ash Street and North of the North line of Webster Street and South of the South line of Newell Street excepting the West 30 feet, all in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. WHEREAS, this housing project will contain 40 units, and WHEREAS, the units will be targeted to families, and WHEREAS, the project will be a new construction, and WHEREAS, the project is a good infill development project, providing affordable housing options that is complimented by training programs through partnership with Sisters of Mercy, and WHEREAS, the project is in good proximity to new school for school age children, and WHEREAS, the property will have the following amenities : 1 . Play area for kids, computer center, and community space. 2 . Self-sufficiency and youth academic services : job training, job placement, parenting, computer and adult education, youth academic and literacy programs, health and wellness . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that we support and approve the development of the aforesaid housing in our community, subject to city ordinances and the building permit process . This resolution is effective until December 31, 2008 .
