RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING
SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE
o -' -- OF IOWA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
s ¢ E� FOR THE BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT PROGRAM IN
THE AMOUNT OF $250, 000 . 00 .

c :-!, WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is interested in the economic
— redevelopment of brownfields at the former Chamberlain
°Q jia�jiTfacturing Company site, and

4 _ WHEREAS, the State of Iowa has provided initiatives for the

disition and sustainable reuse of brownfields, and

WHEREAS, the former Chamberlain Manufacturing Company site
Brownfield as defined by Iowa Code Section 261-65 . 2, and

e o WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is an entity eligible to
41 ve and has the ability to manage said funds, and has the
at hority to carry out the work included in the application, and
—. j. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will provide a required match
of $150, 000 . 00 to be used to demolish and redevelop the
nhamberlain site, and
s WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, therefore, desires to apply
for the Iowa Brownfield Redevelopment Program Award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the State of Iowa Application for a
Brownfield Redevelopment Program in the amount of $250, 000 . 00 as
referred to in the preamble hereof be and the same is hereby
approved as to form and content .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that city staff is hereby
authorized and directed to submit such application to the State
of Iowa for and on behalf of the City of Waterloo.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of November, 2008 .
