Members present: Boesen, Amos, Morrissey, Feuss, Grieder, and Juon. Mrs. Klein arrived at 4:21
p.m.
Moved by Morrissey seconded by Amos that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Voice -vote
Ayes: Six. Motion carried.
Objective: Discussion of recommendations made by the Finance Committee to expenditure pre -
authorizations, travel requests, and garbage refunds.
City council and Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, discussed the city travel policy. They
agreed to lower the mileage distance for an overnight stay prior to the start of training to 100 miles.
They discussed changing the time to 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Morrissey asked that the policy be presented to the unions to see if their members want to have
input on the policy.
They discussed paying for meals at the end of the conference if it is part of the conference but not
if it is not part of the conference.
Council agreed that department heads should track employee training and that travel requests
should be required only when the employee travels out of county and incurs an expense.
Council agreed that travel request thresholds should increase to $200 and that they should not have
to fill out a form. Council agreed that employee training needs to be documented. Mr. Morrissey
commented that he wants the dollar amount to remain at $100.
With no further business before the Council, it was moved by Morrissey seconded by Amos that
the meeting be adjourned at 5:09 p.m. Voice -vote Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
