n WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation administers
4 �rate Recreational Trails program for the State of Iowa; and

rO WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, in partnership with the
u :�Pn Iowa Board and other agencies, is investing in
mgkovements to the Riverfront in the form of the Cedar Valley
ItiveT Renaissance project; and
o t WHEREAS, the development of multi-use trails along the
C�q�i River, including the trail segment from 6th Street to 18th
gtteet on the south side of the river, is an integral component
kl� the Cedar Valley River Renaissance project as well as the
me�I j�6politan trail network; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is willing to maintain these
improvements for a minimum of twenty years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will provide the 25 percent
local match as required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa,
authorizes the Mayor to sign the application to be submitted to
the Iowa Department of Transportation for State Recreational
Trails funding for development of the trail from 6th Street to
18th Street on the south side of the river.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Iowa Northland Regional
Council of Governments is hereby authorized to submit said
application to the Iowa Department of Transportation on behalf
of the City of Waterloo, Iowa .
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 29th day of May, 2007 .
