THE PURPOSE OF THE PUBLIC HEARING IS TO DISCUSS AND MAKE ANY NECESSARY AMENDMENTS TO THE SAN MARNAN DEVELOPMENT PLAN IN ORDER TO ADD ADDITIONAL AREA AND TO INCLUDE OTHER UPDATES. The area included in the San Marnan Development Plan is an economic development area within the meaning of Iowa Code Section 403.17(10).Such area is appropriate for commercial and indus- trial enterprises and is eligible for an urban renewal project and otherwise meets all requisites under the provisions of Iowa Code Chapter 403. The general scope of urban renewal activities in the area involves the rehabilitation,conserve- bon,development,and redevelopment of such area, or a combination of such activities in the area, to promote continued growth and development of commercial activities in the area through various public purpose and special financing activities outlined in the Plan. These activities are deemed necessary in the interest of the public health,safety or welfare of the residents of the City of Waterloo. The Plan may be further amended from time to time to respond to future development oppodum- ties- The public hearing will be held at 5:30 pm. on Monday, July 13, 2020, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall in Waterloo, Iowa.Any questions regarding the proposed amendment to the Plan should be directed to the Planning and Zoning Office at 291-4366. The City of Waterloo will continue to hold City Council meetings as scheduled, however in response to COVID-19, elected officials and city staff will participate via videoconferencing with elected officials and city staff dialing in to the meeting to participate.
