The area included in the Rath Urban Renewal and Redevelopment Plan (the "Plan")is an area of slum and blight and an economic development area within the meaning of Iowa Code Section 403.17(70).Such area is appropriate for commercial and industrial enterprises and is eligible for an urban renewal project and otherwise meets all requisites under the provisions of Iowa Code Chapter 403. The rehabilitation,conservation,develop- ment,redevelopment,or a combination of such activities,of such area is necessary in the interest of the public health,safety or welfare of the residents of the City of Waterloo. The Plan amendment is an amendment to the Plan,originally adopted in 1990 and subsequently amended in 2004, 2009, 2016 and 2019. The public hearing will be held at 5:30 P.M. on Monday, July 13, 2020, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall in Waterloo, Iowa.Any questions regarding the proposed amendment to the Plan should be directed to the Planning and Zoning Office at 291-4388. The City of Waterloo will continue to hold City Council meetings as scheduled, however in response to COVID-19, elected officials and city staff will participate via videoconferencing with elected officials and city staff dialing in to the meeting to participate.
