STATUS CODE DESCRIPTION
FAIL 1008.1 - Means of egress
illumination
Illumination shall be provided in the means of egress in accordance with Section
1008.2. Under emergency power, means of egress illumination shall comply with
Section 1008.3.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: All egress lights in all buildings shall be
repaired/replaced so lights will work when under emergency power.
FAIL 1013.6.2 - Exit sign
illumination
The face of an exit sign illuminated from an external source shall have an intensity of
not less than 5 footcandles (54 lux).
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: Repair exit signs that are hanging from
their mounting hardware.
FAIL 1103.9 - Carbon monoxide
alarms
Existing Group I-1, I-2, I-4 and R occupancies shall be equipped with carbon monoxide
alarms in accordance with Section 915, except that the carbon monoxide alarms shall
be allowed to be solely battery operated.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: CO detectors are needed in all apartments
and single family dwelling in vicinity of any room used for sleeping purposes.
FAIL 505.1 - Address identification New and existing buildings shall be provided with approved address identification.
The address identification shall be legible and placed in a position that is visible from
the street or road fronting the property. Address identification characters shall
contrast with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numbers or
alphabetical letters. Numbers shall not be spelled out. Each character shall be not
less than 4 inches (102 mm) high with a minimum stroke width of 1/2 (12.7 mm).
Where required by the fire code official, address identification shall be provided in
additional approved locations to facilitate emergency response. Where access is by
means of a private road and the building cannot be viewed from the public way, a
monument, pole or other sign or means shall be used to identify the structure.
Address identification shall be maintained.

FAIL 506.1 - Where required Where access to or within a structure or an area is restricted because of secured
openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting
purposes, the fire code official is authorized to require a key box to be installed in an
approved location. The key box shall be of an approved type listed in accordance with
UL 1037, and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required by the fire code
official.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: Knox boxes are needed on all buildings.
Boxes shall be approved by Fire Marshal for locations. Life-saving & Fire-Fighting
purposes are code requirements for knox boxes.
FAIL 605.1 - Abatement of
electrical hazards
Identified electrical hazards shall be abated. Identified hazardous electrical conditions
in permanent wiring shall be brought to the attention of the responsible code official.
Electrical wiring, devices, appliances and other equipment that is modified or
damaged and constitutes an electrical shock or fire hazard shall not be used.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: In single family dwelling @ 425 W Donald St
in basement there is an open fixture box that needs a cover.
FAIL 605.10 - Portable, electric
space heaters
Where not prohibited by other sections of this code, portable, electric space heaters
shall be permitted to be used in all occupancies other than Group I-2 and in
accordance with Sections 605.10.1 through 605.10.4. Exception: The use of portable,
electric space heaters in which the heating element cannot exceed a temperature of
212°F (100°C) shall be permitted in nonsleeping staff and employee areas in Group I-2
occupancies.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: Remove all space heaters in use in
apartments.
FAIL 605.10.3 - Extension cords Portable, electric space heaters shall not be plugged into extension cords.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: Fire places shall not be plugged into
extension cords or power strips.
FAIL 605.5 - Extension cords Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring.
Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended
through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such
cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords shall
be used only with portable appliances.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: Extension cords in shop needs removed.
FAIL 703.1.2 - Smoke barriers and
smoke partitions
Required smoke barriers and smoke partitions shall be maintained to prevent the
passage of smoke. Openings protected with approved smoke barrier doors or smoke
dampers shall be maintained in accordance with NFPA 105.

Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: All fire doors shall be maintained in
accordance with NFPA 105, maintained in good operable condition. Doors shall be
able to close and latch on their own.
FAIL 907.2.11 - Single- and
multiple-station smoke
alarms
Listed single- and multiple- station smoke alarms complying with UL 217 shall be
installed in accordance with Sections 907.2.11.1 through 907.2.11.6 and NFPA 72.
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: Smoke detectors are needed to be in
working condition. Check all detectors and install new batteries if applicable. Install
smoke detectors in some apartments where living rooms are being used for sleeping
purposes.
FAIL 907.2.11.1 - Group R-1 Single or multiple station smoke alarms shall be installed in all of the following
locations in Group R-1: 1. In sleeping areas. 2. In every room in the path of the means
of egress from the sleeping area to the door leading from the sleeping unit. 3. In each
story within the sleeping unit, including basements. For sleeping units with split levels
and without an intervening door between the adjacent levels, a smoke alarm installed
on the upper level shall suffice for the adjacent lower level provided that the lower
level is less than one full story below the upper level.

FAIL R6.A. - Interior Structure-
Unsafe Conditions
Were any unsafe conditions noted during the interior inspection?(IPMC 305.1.1)
Inspector: BARRY STRATTON - Comments: Wall needs repaired in @ 429 W Donald St #
201 Mold needs to be mitigated @ 427 W Donald St # 204 on bathroom ceiling. Water
damaged drywall shall be removed and replaced.
