RESOLUTION NO. 2020-695
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION IOWA CLEAN AIR ATTAINMENT
PROGRAM APPLICATION TO FUND THE TRAFFIC FLOW
IMPROVEMENT AND EMISSION REDUCTION PROJECT ON
US 63 FROM DONALD STREET TO NEWELL STREET, WITH
A LOCAL MATCH OF $29,000, COMMITTING TO
MAINTAINING THE IMPROVEMENTS AS REQUIRED BY
THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID
DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Director has requested permission to submit an
application for an Iowa Clean Air Attainment grant in the amount of $145,000, to fund the
Traffic Flow Improvement and Emission Reduction Project on US 63 from Donald Street to
Newell Street, connecting signals from downtown to Airport Boulevard, and
WHEREAS, The City of Waterloo is committed to adequately maintaining the completed
project for its intended public use following project completion, and
WHEREAS, The City of Waterloo will provide the $29,000 match required for the
project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the submission of the application for an Iowa Clean Air Attainment
grant in the amount of $145,000, with matching City funds in the amount of $29,000, to fund the
Traffic Flow Improvement and Emission Reduction Project on US 63 from Donald Street to
Newell Street, connecting signals from downtown to Airport Boulevard, is hereby approved.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of September 2020.
