I have enclosed an Election Certificate which should be given to the winning candidate along
with the handbook for Open Meeting and Open Records.
A copy of the Abstract of Votes, initiated at the Official Canvass by the Board of Supervisors
and a copy of the results are also included.
Iowa Code §63.8 states that the individual declared elected must take the oath of office within
10 days after the canvass of votes which was held Thursday, July 14tn

We, the undersigned Members of the Board of Supervisors and ex-officio County Board of Canvassers for this County,
do hereby certify the following to be a true and correct abstract of the votes cast in this County at the 2016 Black Hawk
County Special City (WL W1) Election held on the 12th day of July, 2016, as shown by the tally lists returned from the
several election precincts.

Margaret Klein Received seven hundred thirty-nine (739) votes
Tom Powers Received seven hundred eighty-seven (787) votes
Candidate Total One thousand five hundred twenty—six (1526) votes
SCATTERING Two (2) votes
TOTAL One thousand five hundred twenty-eight (1528) votes
We therefore declare:
Tom Powers duly elected for the office of WATERLOO COUNCILMEMBER WARD 1 - TFV for the term of 2 years.
