Attached is new legislation which changes who the filing officer will be for City Elections. This change, which was unexpected by our office, was made effective July 1, 2015. City candidates will now file their nomination petitions directly with the County Auditor's Office. Attached is the revised Iowa Code Section 376.4. The worksheet indicates your offices, wards, terms, incumbents and appointees, based on our records. Items such as your city plan, polling place hours and the select newspaper for your legal publications were copied from the previous election cycle Planning Worksheet response. Please review this information carefully. If your city is planning a question, be sure to indicate what that will be in category four, Public Measures, and if, after proofing our information you find any item that is not correct, be sure to correct the worksheet and return a corrected copy of the worksheet to the Election Office, a telephone call would also be appreciated.
