Donations will be taken at the Waterloo American Legion and an account will be set up at a local bank. He asked the city to donate funds." My name is Gary Steen. I am the past commander of the American Legion Post 138, 728 Commercial Street. I want to ask that a statue be erected at Memorial Park or at a veteran's crisis and resource center in Kevin Dill's honor. He is an active native Iowan who has given his life to serve others and his county. Both as an active military veteran, police officer, contract security abroad and finally finishing up his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs in the United States. As Executive Director of the BHCo Veterans Affairs for the past 3 years, Kevin has worked 24/7. He helped all veterans whether they are retired, disabled, homeless, going to school, widows or family members. He helped me personally. He bleeds the red, white and blue. Kevin is our hero. I think when Kevin's body is ready, he'll become the veteran's angel in heaven. The Lord will take Kevin in his open arms, saying you are mine now. You never have to suffer any more pain. You'll never be forgotten. I wish all the courage that Kevin has to serve until the very end in any way possible. Myself, I'll donate $100 to start this drive. I have contacted the Waterloo American Legion, Cedar Falls Eagles Club, Cedar Falls AmVets, Riders and Sons. Nancy Showers is also willing to help and put this on Facebook. I believe the Mayor and City Council should vote on this request instead of putting it off until a later agenda. Please send the donations to Post 138, 728 Commercial Street, and a check for Kevin Dill statue. I'd like to ask the city to assist in grants in finding any grants available to accomplish this mission. Thank you for your consideration. Mayor: Thank you Mr. Steen. Did someone put together some type of drive? Are you and Nancy doing something? Mr. Steen: Nancy and I are going to get together and go over to the Veteran Bank and arrange to have the checks sent over there. Mayor: When you have everything put together, if you'll send me an email, I myself, will give as well. Mr. Steen: Thank you for the opportunity. Pledge of Allegiance. I. Roll Call: II.
