Description: We all want to make a positive impact. But it's no secret that the road to disaster
passes through the land of good intentions. So how do we identify our blind spots and close
that gap?Together we'll learn how to identify our shadow intentions as I share coaching
insights and practices that you can apply to understand the how and why we behave the way
that we do.

Ronnie Charles)
Description: Gallagher's Human Resources and Compensation Consulting practice discusses
the current trends, issues and best practices in public sector compensation today. Topics will
include the economic environment that influences compensation practice and budgets and the
"new" normal environment including employee engagement, regulations including pay equity,
and rewarding performance. The discussion also addresses additional compensation topics
that are of current concern to public sector organizations within Iowa and across the country.

Development
Description: While our state and country are experiencing rates of very low unemployment,
some populations are still experiencing barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment. In
this presentation, Brian will discuss the barriers experienced by individuals from underserved
populations and also share methods to foster improved engagement and retention through
the use of support programs that serve the customer and the employer.

Description: Ms. Reasner will discuss the processes and procedures to implement to avoid
employment law pitfalls on such topics as Sexual and other forms of Harassment; Retaliation;
Family and Medical Leave Act; Accommodating Disability Leave; Hiring/Firing; and the state
and federal laws related to paying wages.

Speaker Biographies
Sarah Noll Wilson
As an Executive Coach, Keynote Speaker, Transformer of Teams, Researcher, soon to `_, `
be Author, Sarah helps people close the gap between what they intend to do and the
actual impact they make. Sarah creates a safe, honest environment, preparing people
to deal with real-world conflict, have more meaningful conversations, and create '
purposeful relationships.
Sarah holds a Master's Degree from Drake University in Leadership Development and
a BA from the University of Northern Iowa in Theatre Performance and Theatre
Education. She is a frequent guest lecturer at Universities. When she isn't helping people develop stronger
relationships with themselves and others, she enjoys spending time with her husband Nick and their two fur
babies Seymour and Sally.
Annette Hoefer
Annette Hoefer, a senior consultant with Gallagher, has extensive compensation and human resources consulting
experience with public and private sector clients. Prior to affiliating with Gallagher, she was a senior consultant
with Lee & Burgess Associates in Denver, Colorado. Ms. Hoefer was the project manager and lead consultant for
some of the firm's largest consulting projects in the public sector. She also designed several innovative
compensation related tools including banded job evaluation and a competency based performance evaluation
method. She has also held human resources positions in energy and insurance companies utilizing progressive
compensation strategies and processes.
Ms. Hoefer is responsible for providing compensation services including job evaluation, job description
development, survey management, and compensation system design for all types of public sector clients. She has
guided over 150 organizations in the development and administration of strategic and operational compensation
and human resources policies and practices.
Ms. Hoefer has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa and a Master's Degree
in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources from same institution and has earned her CCP
certification from WorldatWork.
Ronnie Charles
Mr. Charles is a National Managing Director with Gallagher's Human Resources &
Compensation Consulting practice leading the public sector and higher education
consulting service line.
With over 30 years of professional Human Resources experience, Mr. Charles specializes
in all facets of Strategic HR Operations to include Compensation and Benefits, Total
;t Rewards,Talent Acquisition, Employee & Labor Relations, HRIS and Workforce Planning.
He also brings extensive experience in project management leading and implementing
large scale change and HR transformation initiatives.

Prior to joining Gallagher, he served as Chief Human Resources Officer(CHRO)for the city of Baltimore, Maryland.
In this capacity, he led all Strategic Human Resources initiatives leading a workforce of over 20,000 employees.
He has also served as Director of Human Resources & Information Technology for the City of Suffolk, Virginia. In
this role, he was responsible for strategic HR Service Delivery, Risk Management, and Enterprise Information
Technology Systems.
Mr. Charles' experience also includes a progressive career of leadership roles with the District of Columbia in
Washington, DC where he served as a Human Resources Director and a Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO,
he was responsible for Human Resources and Labor Relations, Contracts and Procurement, Facilities and Fleet
Management, Risk Management, Information Technology Systems and a comprehensive revenue generating
Business Services Division. In this role he served as a key liaison with the District of Columbia City Council, the
Executive Mayor's Office, and represented the District before the United States Congress on HR and Human
Services issues.
Mr. Charles earned his B.S. in Management from Saint Paul's College. He is also a graduate of Virginia's Executive
Institute, Harvard University's HR Program on Negotiation, and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)
Advanced Program in Human Resources.

Brian S. Dennis
Brian S. Dennis has worked in disability and low-income services for the past 21 years. .
His career includes residential care, mental health case management, local housing
services; and now education/training and employment services through Iowa's
implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). He has
presented on a model of poverty-informed care at the National Council on Rehabilitation
Council and the Rehabilitation Services Administration conferences. Mr. Dennis holds a
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling; as well
as his CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) licensure and is a certified SSDI/SSI
benefits planner. He is a member of the Board of Iowa APSE, Passageway and Central Iowa Center for
Independent Living. He has worked with the YMCA Fatherhood Initiative; and he is an adjunct professor at Drake
University where he has taught courses related to Disability Policy, Family Counseling and Psychiatric Disorders
which integrate insight into the systemic issues which impact factors ranging from diversity/inclusion to
generational poverty.

Dane Sulentic
Dane Sulentic is the Apprenticeship Coordinator for the Iowa Department of Corrections,
and has been in the role for 2 years. Dane oversees 26 registered programs and over 320
registered apprentices throughout the state of Iowa. Dane works with both incarcerated
individuals within the correctional facilities and employers to help remove barriers and
bridge the gap from incarceration to employed for apprentices upon their release.
Previously Dane worked with Iowa Workforce Development as an Employability Services
W Specialist and also with Des Moines Public Schools teaching employability skills to
students at risk of graduating. Dane received his undergraduate degree from Central
College in Pella, IA and his Masters in Public Administration and Business Administration
from Bellevue University and Upper Iowa University respectively. Dane is also certified through the National
Institute of Corrections as an Offender Workforce Development Specialist (OWDS).
Amy Reasner
Amy L. Reasner, is a partner with and the President of Lynch Dallas P.C., in Cedar Rapids.
Ms. Reasner is an experienced employment and labor lawyer, defending her clients in
courts, agencies and before arbitrators. Ms. Reasner's practice focuses on providing
counseling and guidance in for public and private entities regarding HR, civil rights,
employment law and risk mitigation, as well as performing independent
investigations. Ms. Reasner is a past and present gubernatorial appointee, having
served two terms with the Iowa Department of Transportation Commission and now
serving her first term with the Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors.
