RESOLUTION NO. 2021-349 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE GREATER DOWNTOWN AREA OPERATIONAL ZONE, AS REQUIRED FOR A SHARED MOBILITY DEVICE LICENSE. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has adopted a Bicycle or Electric Scooter ordinance as a new mobility option for residents and visitors to the city; and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has adopted an ordinance creating a Shared Mobility Device License for a Shared Mobility Devices (E-Scooter and Bicycle) Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has established an area known as the Greater Downtown Area Operational Zone for mobility device rental companies to use geo-fencing technology with their Bicycle or Electric Scooter equipment, as required for a shared mobility device license. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the Greater Downtown Area Operational Zone map is hereby adopted, and attached as Exhibit "A", for mobility device rental companies to use geo-fencing technology with their Bicycle or Electric Scooter equipment, as required for a shared mobility device license.
