ELECTRICAL, GAS, MECHANICAL OR PLUMBING =, SYSTEM WITHOUT A VALID PERMIT TO REINSTATE o V` FEE INCLUDED IN 1997 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE. A.; WHEREAS, the Building Department is responsible for admi istering the International Building Code 2003 edition and the Inte-rnational Residential Code 2003 edition, and w - WHEREAS, the provision of the code applies to construction alterations, movements, enlargement, replacement, repair, use and occupancy, location, removal and demolition of every building or Structure, and ---: WHEREAS, the intent of the code is to establish the minimum .requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general We -are through structural strength, means of egress, stability, Sanitation, lighting, ventilation, fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment and provide for fire fighter Sa-fety by enforcement of code requirements . a NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA that work commencing before permit issuance shall be subjected to the following: 1 . Whenever any work for which a permit is required by this code has been commenced without first obtaining said permit, a special investigation shall be made before a permit may be issued for such work. 2 . An investigation fee, in addition to the permit fee, shall be collected whether or not a permit is then or subsequently issued. The investigation fee shall be equal to the amount of the permit fee as established by resolution of the City Council. 3 . The payment of such investigation fee shall not exempt any person from compliance with all other provisions of this code nor from any penalty prescribed by law.
