RESOLUTION NO. 2005-880
< RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION WITH IOWA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR STATEWIDE
- = ENHANCEMENT GRANT AND DIRECTING EXECUTION OF
`, SAID APPLICATION BY MAYOR.

` - WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation administers
- Enhancement program for the State of Iowa; and
s
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, in partnership with the
c Vision Iowa Board and other agencies, is investing in
-.improvements to the Riverfront in the form of the Cedar Valley
:River Renaissance project; and
WHEREAS, the development of trail overlook and plaza areas
long the Cedar River are a critical component of the Cedar
Dailey River Renaissance project as well as the metropolitan
ail network; and
WHEREAS, the overlook and plaza areas will enhance the
Ar terican Discovery Trail (ADT) to be developed in the
metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is willing to maintain these
irriprovements for a minimum of twenty years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will provide the 30 percent
local match as required, not to exceed $194 , 304 . 00 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
Waterloo, Iowa, authorizes the Mayor to sign the application to
be submitted to the Iowa Department of Transportation for
Statewide Enhancement funding.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Iowa Northland Regional
Council of Governments is hereby authorized to submit said
application to the Iowa Department of Transportation on behalf of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
