s RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE USE OF GENERAL
s OBLIGATION BONDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A TRAIL
s a HEAD TO SERVE THE RECREATIONAL TRAIL ALONG
J• v ^ MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE AT THE INTERSECTION
OF IDAHO STREET IN WATERLOO, IOWA.

WHEREAS, the Black Hawk Metropolitan Area has been
Ieyeloping a network of multi-use, non-motorized trails for
oeveral years; and
- - WHEREAS, development of a trail head to serve the
reeational trail along Martin Luther King Drive at the
1r4ersection of Idaho Street is an important component of this
sr^a l network; and
WHEREAS, federal funding assistance in the amount of
$5-e 00 . 00 is available through the Iowa Northland Regional
QNncil of Governments, with city match of $31, 080. 00, for a estimated project cost of $81, 080 . 00, and the City of
Waterloo is in need of such assistance in order to fully develop
t -ii- trail head; and
o WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo certifies that this trail head
within its jurisdiction and will remain dedicated to public
use and further that the City of Waterloo will have
jurisdictional responsibility and will adequately maintain the
trail head for a minimum of 20 years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City of Waterloo endorses said project,
and that with assistance of federal funds through Iowa Northland
Regional Council of Governments, with city match of $31, 080 . 00,
for a total estimated project cost of $81, 080 . 00, the development
of the trail head will be completed, and that the trail head will
remain dedicated to public use and adequately maintained.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of October, 2005 .
