RESOLUTION NO. 2005-1069
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, APPROVING APPLICATION TO
THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR
STATE RECREATIONAL TRAILS FUNDING AND
DIRECTING EXECUTION OF SAID APPLICATION BY
MAYOR.
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation administers
the State Recreational Trails program for the State of Iowa; and

WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, in partnership with the
Vision Iowa Board and other agencies, is investing in
c, improvements to the Riverfront in the form of the Cedar Valley
River Renaissance project; and
- WHEREAS, the development of trail overlook and plaza areas
_along the Cedar River are a critical component of the Cedar
-Valley River Renaissance project as well as the metropolitan
tail network; and
WHEREAS, the overlook and plaza areas will enhance the
Ame-rican Discovery Trail (ADT) to be developed in the
metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is willing to maintain these
improvements for a minimum of twenty years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will provide the 25 percent
local match as required, not to exceed $161, 920 . 00 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, authorizes the Mayor to sign the application
to be submitted to the Iowa Department of Transportation for
State Recreational Trails funding.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Iowa Northland Regional
Council of Governments is hereby authorized to submit said
application to the Iowa Department of Transportation on behalf of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of December, 2005 .
