That white seal coat/cure will not come off the new portion of concrete they poured at our house in that Sand custom color. The white top coat they use is an obvious film layer, as there are some other splashes if the white over on to our existing top portion of the drive in spots as well. The top slope/curb of the portion, on the right edge, they did pour is also obviously streaky from the white coat of sealant running down that more extreme slope as it dried, but you are able to see the tan/Sand color corning thru that layer. This is in the concrete top layer and Tm afraid and this will have to be redone by that contractor as they dropped the ball and screwed up my driveway colorant with that sealant. This may be a costly repair for them, but this was very expensive for us as well and key to the resale value of our home. The City hired ASPRO as the main contractor. The Contractor put black pipe on my property and stored it there during the project, which wrecked the grass on my property! Then on September 16, 2020, the Water Works put a blue flag in the middle of my side yard. I then talked to Rick Wilberding, who told me he was a City Engineer. I told him that I did not want a fire hydrant in my yard at all. I also pointed out to him that there is a fire hydrant already on the corner of Zelmar Drive and Maxine. There is one on the corner of Gayle Street and Maxine and one on the corner of Gayle Street and Maynard. This fire hydrant was not needed. I then agreed with him, if they have to put one in my yard, that I wanted it out by the No Parking sign. He then moved the flag and told the Contractor to put it out by the No Parking sign. The contractor was Hurst and Son's. In the mean time I needed to go to the store to pick up my prescriptions. Upon my return from the store, the contractor put the fire hydrant in the middle of my back yard! I then told my neighbor, Sheila Beal, what they had done, without any notification to me. She then called the Engineering Office and spoke to Jamie Knudson, who then came out and confronted the contractors, Hurst and Son's, on why they did not put the fire hydrant by the No Parking sign. They then stated to Jamie Knudson that they could not put it there because there was a sand dune there. Which was a lie, because when they dug the whole road up it was nothing but clay dirt! Jamie Knudson seemed discussed with the contractor! They did not bring any black dirt in and level off any yards including mine. The left rocks, tree roots and holes, then had Mathias Lawn Care spray seed on the rocks, tree roots and clay. Grass seed does not grown on rocks! They also damaged my curb! Also, my water pressure is not good at all. I had way better water pressure before they put this fire hydrant and water main in! I have never seen such unprofessional work done like this ever, then to lie to an older person and disrespect me! I hope the Mayor and the Council will take care of this matter, I am a long time Taxpayer in this City and expect to be treated with the respect! I hope that you take care of this problem! Most of them are from the curb to a huge circle around water shut offs in their front yards, with the exception of Betty Otting at 1130 Maxine Avenue. Besides the huge circle around the water shut off, the contractor stored a big cement square, in her front yard that has wrecked her yard. I am on the corner of Gayle and Maxine. The first contractor I seen working, was Lodge Construction. They did the storm tiling for Gayle Street to Maxine Avenue. I could not figure why they did not go another one half block to Maynard? They did a wonderful job on the yards down on Gayle. The second contractor doing Maxine Avenue was ASPRO. They started the first faze from Joy Drive to the 1130 Address. Their yards look good also. Then the second faze! While they were doing the faze, they stored great big cement pipe and great big cement squares in my yard. I was told it would all be fixed. So all summer long I was trying to mow and weed-wack around the cement items! These left deep ruts in my yard. They did put storm tiling all the way around my yard, which was needed, because of the spongy lawn at the bottom of my yard caused by making us put sump pumps in! When we poured our driveway we also poured a new approach. We paid for it ourselves. The contractor used a claw machine to break off the approach, which chipped my driveway on both sides. They left big scrape marks on my driveway. They should have used a saw to cut the driveway cleanly! This contractor was Hurst and Son's. At this time, they tore up my yard along 1237 Maxine to put in my neighbors approach. The line went under my driveway to the shut off in the middle of my front yard. Hurst and Son's then dug up that whole side yard stating that they had to put a whole new water line to her house. I then pointed out to him that her waterline was right there and that they did not need to dig all of our property up, just put a joint in her existing pipe and run it to her shut off! They did not need to dig that whole side up. They went under the fence by a foot. Hurst and Son's was repeatedly told to not dig up my side yard. When I confronted Hurst and Son's owner, he told me to mind my own business! My yard is my business. He stated that he gets paid by the City of Waterloo not me! I filed two complaints with the City of Waterloo and repeatedly talked to Jamie Knudson on everything including the Fire Hydrant that was not needed in 246 Zelmar Drives yard. Jamie asked Hurst and Son's why they did not put the Fire Hydrant by the No Parking Sign, where Rick Wilberding marked for that neighbor. Hurst and Son's said that it was a sand dune there. That was a lie, they had that whole street dug up and it's nothing but clay! Then when they poured my approach, it was a different Contractor B & D or something like that. It is a Hispanic owned Contractor. The young City Engineer was overseeing the workers and he spilled coffee or pop into my approach! The Hispanic man was upset with him and he waved to him to just keep smoothing it out. I confronted him about the spill and he said that it would not hurt anything and that if it was his driveway and approach he would not care! I told him that it was mine, and that I do care! Just like the pictures show, he then tried to sand it out and then spray painted it white. Also there is a high point on the other side of the approach, to which water stands, because the approach is higher than my driveway. I also never seen them put any re -rod in the approach. Same young Engineer came out to measure yards, I then told him that the approach is not right and needed to be redone! He then stated to me that if it was his driveway and approach he would not care! I repeated to him that it was my driveway and approach, not his! I was told that the Contractor would bring in black dirt, level and smooth out the yard and then seed. Matthias came out and sprayed seed on rocks, roots, sticks, and markers left by the Contractor. Grass does not grow on rocks, roots, sticks and clay! I should not have to fix this City Project! I still do not understand why Lodge Contractors stopped at Maxine Avenue, when they just needed to go another one half block to Maynard? The City also needs to put new curbing on Gayle Street also and repave! We keep getting sink holes from the water running. I know for a fact that ASPRO has been out on Gayle Street more than ten times, in the last three years. Jamie Knudson told me that they were going to repave Gayle Street also and new curbing. Also the first faze of Maxine Avenue yards are way better than the second faze! Margaret Klein was called on this issue and also Pat Morrisey. Both came out to view the problem, which Pat Morrisey and Margaret Klein called it right! A SHODDY JOB! I expect the City of Waterloo to take care of my yard and pave a new approach with re -rod as it was before. I also contacted the Mayor about the Contractor Hurst and Son's telling me to mind my own business and that the City of Waterloo pays them and told his workers to ignore me, and that it was not my business. The Mayor had never been out to look at this issue. I expect to be respected and not disrespected by Contractors hired by the City! Also to inform you that ASPRO came out the 15th of July to fix more sink holes on Gayle Street.
