REGARDING THE LOWERING OF THE FLAGS TO HALF
x STAFF AT CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA BUILDINGS .

sF� WHEREAS, there has been no uniform policy regarding the

lowering of the flags of the United States, State of Iowa and
`C :ay of Waterloo to half staff, and

� tr WHEREAS, it is in the public interest that such a policy be
ctablished.
r- NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, I OWA:

1 . That the flags of the United States, State of Iowa and
H City of Waterloo be flown at half staff at City
Buildings in Waterloo, Iowa on the following occasions :
0 a. Whenever decreed by the President of the United
States of America.
H
b. Whenever decreed by the Governor of the State of
Iowa.

c . Whenever decreed by the Mayor of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa or, in his absence, by the Mayor
Pro Tem.
d. In observance of the death of an elected official
of Waterloo, Iowa, during his term of office, or
of the death of a person presently employed by the
City of Waterloo, Iowa.
e . In observance of the death of any person whose
death resulted from injuries or disease received
in the course of his employment while employed by
the City of Waterloo, Iowa or whose death resulted
from injuries or disease received during his term
of office as an elected official of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa.
f . In observance of the death of any person while on
active duty with the Armed Forces of the United
States of America whose home record is Waterloo,
Iowa.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk will be the
person designated to notify all city departments whenever it has
been decreed that the flags of the United States, State of Iowa
and the City of Waterloo, Iowa be flown at half staff .
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of August, 2004 .
