`/1 o 04HEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation administers
plipkrihancement program for the State of Iowa; and

- WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, in partnership with the
ttAsi.on Iowa Board and other agencies, is investing in
c r ovements to the Riverfront in the form of the Cedar Valley
ity Renaissance project; and

o ,WHEREAS, the development of a multi-use trail between Mullan
1* and Cedar Bend Park along the north side of the Cedar is a critical segment of the Cedar Valley River Renaissance
project as well as the metropolitan trail network; and
O C WHEREAS, this trail represents the final segment of the
iinerican Discovery Trail (ADT) to be developed in the
metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is willing to maintain these
improvements for a minimum of twenty years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will provide the 30 percent
local match as required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
Waterloo, Iowa, authorizes the Mayor to sign the application to
be submitted to the Iowa Department of Transportation for
Statewide Enhancement funding.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Iowa Northland Regional
Council of Governments is hereby authorized to submit said
application to the Iowa Department of Transportation on behalf of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
