RESOLUTION NO. 2000-664
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING
SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE U.S.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR THE
BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP REVOLVING LOAN FUND PILOT
PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $1, 000, 000. 00.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is interested in the economic
redevelopment of brownfields in the Rath Neighborhood Area, and
WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency has provided
initiatives to prevent, assess, educate and develop plans for the
cleanup and sustainable reuse of brownfields, and
WHEREAS, the Environmental Protection Agency is offering
Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund Pilot Programs to assist
communities in cleaning up brownfields, and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is an entity eligible to receive
funds under CERCLA Section 104 (d) , has the authority to enter into
an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and has
the authority to carry out the work included in the application,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, therefore, desires to apply for
a Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund Pilot award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the Environmental Protection Agency
Application for a Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund Pilot in
the amount of $1, 000, 000. 00 as referred to in the preamble hereof
be and the same is hereby approved as to form and content.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the city staff is hereby authorized
and directed to submit application to the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency for and on behalf of the City of Waterloo.
