RESOLUTION NO. 1999-208
RESOLUTION FIXING THE TIME AND PLACE OF
HEARING AND NOTICE TO BE GIVEN ON THE
VACATION, SALE AND CONVEYANCE OF A PORTION OF
THE EAST-WEST ALLEY GENERALLY LOCATED BETWEEN
THORSON AVENUE AND BREES STREET, WEST OF
ASHLAND AVENUE TO JAMES AND MARILYN GRANDON
AND CHICAGO CENTRAL AND THE PACIFIC RAILROAD
FOR $1, 612 . 80, PLUS COSTS AS APRIL 26, 1999,
AT 7 : 00 P.M. IN CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS,
WATERLOO, IOWA AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY CLERK
TO PUBLISH THE NOTICE OF HEARING.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 . That the Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa
shall meet at City Hall Council Chambers in the City of Waterloo,
Iowa at 7 : 00 p.m. on the 26th day of April, 1999, for the purpose
of considering and acting upon a proposal to vacate a portion of
the east-west alley generally located between Thorson Avenue and
Brees Street, west of Ashland Avenue, legally described as
follows :
That part of the 20 foot east-west alley platted in
Christie Addition that lies Easterly of a line drawn
from the Southwesterly corner of Lot 6 Block 3 Christie
Addition to the Northwesterly corner of Lot 19 Block 3
Christie Addition and West of a line drawn from the
Southeast corner of Lot 1 Block 3 of said addition to
the Northeast corner of Lot 24 Block 3 of said
addition, all in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk
County, Iowa;
and also, sell and convey to James and Marilyn Grandon, the
vacated portion of the east-west alley generally located between
Thorson Avenue and Brees Street, west of Ashland Avenue, described
as follows :
That part of the 20' wide vacated alley in Block 3 of
Christie Addition that lies East of a line drawn from the
Southwest corner of Lot 1 Block 3 to the Northwest corner of
Lot 24, Block 3 said addition, and West of a line drawn from
the Southeast corner of Lot 1 Block 3 said addition to the
Northeast corner of Lot 24 Block 3 said addition, is the City
of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
Also, the South one-half fo the vacated 20' wide alley in
Block 3 Christie Addition that lies East of a line drawn from
the Southwest corner of Lot 3 Block 3 said addition to the
Northwest corner of Lot 22 Block 3 said addition and West of
a line drawn from the Southwest corner of Lot 1 Block 3 said
addition to the Northwest corner of Lot 24 Block 3 said
addition, in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa .
Also, that part of the 20' wide vacated alley in Block 3 of
Christie Addition that lies East of a line drawn from the
Southwest corner of Lot 5 Block 3 said addition to the
Northwest corner of Lot 20 Block 3 said addition, and West of
a line drawn from the Southwest corner of Lot 4 Block 3 said
addition to the Northwest corner of Lot 21 Block 3 said
addition, all in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County,
Iowa

for $806. 40, plus costs;
and also, sell and convey to Chicago Central and Pacific Railroad,
the vacated portion of the east-west alley generally located
between Thorson Avenue and Brees Street, west of Ashland Avenue,
described as follows :
That part of the 20' vacated alley in Block 3 of Christie
Addition that lies East of a line drawn from the Southwest
corner of Lot 6 Block 3 said addition to the Northwest corner
of Lot 19 Block 3 said addition, and West of a line drawn
from the Southwest corner of Lot 5 Block 3 said addition to
the Northwest corner of Lot 20 Block 3 said addition, all in
the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
Also, that part of the vacated 20' alley in Block 3 Christie
Addition that lies East of a line drawn from the Southwest
corner of Lot 4 Block 3 said addition to the Northwest corner
of Lot 21 Block 3 said addition and West of a line drawn from
the Southwest corner of Lot 3 Block 3 said addition to the
Northwest corner of Lot 22 Block 3 said addition, all in the
City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa .
Also, the North one-half of the 20' wide vacated alley in
Block 3 Christie Addition that lies East of a line drawn from
the Southwest corner of Lot 3 Block 2 said addition to the
Northwest corner of Lot 22 Block 3 said addition and West of
a line drawn from the Southwest corner of Lot 1 Block 3 said
addition to the Northwest corner of Lot 24 Block 3 said
addition, in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
for $806. 40, plus costs .
Section 2 . That the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish
notice of the time and place of said hearing in the Waterloo
Courier.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of April, 1999 .
