RESOLUTION NO. 1999-539
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, APPROVING APPLICATION TO THE
IOWA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR
RESOURCE ENHANCEMENT AND PROTECTION FUNDING
AND DIRECTING EXECUTION OF SAID APPLICATION
BY MAYOR PRO TEM.
WHEREAS, the State of Iowa Department of Natural Resources
has created and developed the Resource Enhancement and Protection
program, specifically for the development and protection of
recreational and natural facilities in the State of Iowa; and
WHEREAS, THE City of Waterloo has developed a long range
trail plan to facilitate said development for its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Phase I of the Katoski Trail Extension, commencing
at the intersection of Martin Road and the Sergeant Road Trail and
terminating at the intersection of Katoski Drive and Black Hawk
Road, is a critical component of this plan; and
WHEREAS, the development of this 0 . 8-mile trail will bring
the trail system within 0 . 7-mile of completing a 12 .4 mile trail
loop connecting the Katoski Trail, Sergeant Road Trail, Cedar
Prairie Trail, and the Greenhill Road Trail; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will provide $52 , 670 . 00 to be
used in conjunction with a $50, 000 . 00 contribution from the Young
Family Trust to meet the cost estimate of $302 , 670 . 00 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, authorizes the Mayor Pro Tem to sign the
application to be submitted to the Iowa Department of Natural
Resources for Resource Enhancement and Protection funding.
BE IT further RESOLVED, that the Iowa Northland Regional
Council of Governments is hereby authorized to submit said
application to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources on behalf
of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of August, 1999 .
