RESOLUTION NO. 1999-575
RESOLUTION GRANTING REQUEST OF WARRIOR
PAINTBALL FOR VARIANCE TO SECTIONS 27-4 AND
27-5 OF THE WATERLOO CODE OF ORDINANCES,
WHICH PROHIBITS DISCHARGING OF FIREARMS AND
DISCHARGING AND POSSESSING AIR RIFLES AND
SIMILAR DEVICES.
WHEREAS, Warrior Paintball is proposing to operate a
paintball gaming system in the City of Waterloo at the Christy
Corporation site on Airline Highway, and
WHEREAS, said company' s operations would be in violation of
Sections 27-4 and 27-5 of the Waterloo Code of Ordinances, which
Prohibits Discharging of Firearms and Discharging and Possessing
Air Rifles and Similar Devices, and
WHEREAS, said company has made formal application for a
variance to Sections 27-4 and 27-5 of the Waterloo Code of
Ordinances, which Prohibits Discharging of Firearms and
Discharging and Possessing Air Rifles and Similar Devices, and
WHEREAS, Dennis Halverson, sole proprietor of Warrior
Paintball, agrees to the following:
1 . That those between the ages of 12 and 15 years have parent or
legal guardian present at the paintball site and give written
consent to participate in any and all paintball actives .
2 . That those between the ages of 16 and 18 years have written
parental consent .
3 . That those under 12 years of age may not participate in the
paintball activities under any circumstances .
4 . That three violations reported to the City Council of the
City of Waterloo may, at the City Council' s sole discretion,
cancel the variance and the activities must cease
immediately.
5 . That Dennis Halverson understands, agrees, and voluntarily
submits to this variance with all of its conditions .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA that the request of Warrior Paintball for a
variance to Sections 27-4 and 27-5 of the Waterloo Code of
Ordinances, which Prohibits Discharging of Firearms and
Discharging and Possessing Air Rifles and Similar Devices be and
the same hereby granted.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of August, 1999.
