RESOLUTION NO. 2021-603
RESOLUTION ORDERING THE OLD GRIFFIN DESIGN TO
BE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM ANY AND ALL
WATERLOO POLICE DEPARTMENTAL PROPERTIES BY
SEPTEMBER 30, 2021, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF
WEAPONS/REVOLVERS, WHICH ARE TO BE PHASED OUT
(WITHOUT THE OLD GRIFFIN DESIGN) AS SUCH ARE
REPLACED.
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa on August 24, 2020 voted 7-0 to
remove the "then current" griffin design from all Police Department property and establish a
"Rebrand Committee" to formulate a new design, and
WHEREAS, on May 17, 2021 the City Council voted 5-2 to accept the new design for all
Waterloo Police Department property as presented by the Rebrand Committee per a compromise
offered by the Waterloo Police Protective Association, and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Police Department has yet to remove and replace the "old
design" from all public property except the Police Department Police vehicles, and
WHEREAS, it has been over 3 and '/2 months since passage by the Council of the Order
to Remove and Replace the "old design" as soon as practical from all Waterloo Police
departmental property (except `weapons/revolvers') with the new design;
THEREFORE, it is ordered by this Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa that the old
griffin design be completely removed from any and all Waterloo Police departmental properties
by September 30, 2021. This order excepts the weapons/revolvers, which are to be phased out
(without the old griffin design) as such are replaced.
