AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, BY REPEALING SECTION 1 AND SECTION 3 , OF
ARTICLE XVII , BOARD OF PLUMBER EXAMINERS, OF THE PLUMBING
CODE; AND BY ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF NEW SECTION 1 AND
SECTION 3 , OF ARTICLE XVII , BOARD OF PLUMBER EXAMINERS, OF
THE PLUMBING CODE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA,
as follows:
That Section 1 and Section 3 , of Article XVII , Board of
Plumber Examiners, of the Plumbing Code, of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Waterloo, are hereby repealed in their entirety;
that new Section 1 and Section 3 , of Article XVII , Board of
Plumber Examiners, of the Plumbing Code, of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Waterloo, are hereby enacted in lieu thereof as
follows:
ARTICLE XVII
Board of Plumber Examiners
Sec. 1. --There is hereby created a board of plumber
examiners, and the members of such board shall be: One member
from the city-at-large; two master plumbers, one, who shall be
elected as chairman of the board; two journeyman plumbers ; and the
plumbing inspector who shall be an ex-officio member of the board
and secretary thereof , but without the right to vote.
Sec. 3 . --Appointment--The member from the city-at-large shall
be appointed by the City Council at the first regular council
meeting in March of each year and shall hold office for one year
or until his or her successor shall have been appointed but may be
removed at any time for cause by the City Council. Commencing
with the first regular Council meeting in March, one master
plumber and one journeyman plumber shall be appointed to the board
of plumber examiners each year for a term of two years or until
their successors shall have been appointed and qualified. At time
of appointments there shall be only one board member from any one
shop. Master plumbers and journeyman plumbers on the board must
have had their licenses at least five years and be recommended by
their respective groups.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa, on the 28th day of March, 1988 , and approved by
the Mayor on the 30th day of March, 1988. N
