AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1988 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, BY ADDING SECTION 22-11, RETURN OF LIBRARY
MATERIALS OR EQUIPMENT, TO CHAPTER 22 , LIBRARY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA,
as follows:
That Section 22-11, Return of Library Materials, is hereby
added to Chapter 22, Library, of the 1988 Code of Ordinances of
the City of Waterloo, Iowa, as follows:
Sec. 22-11. Return of Library Materials or Equipment.
If a person fails to return library material for two months
or more after the date the person agreed to return the library
materials, the failure to return is a violation of this code. If
a person fails to return library equipment for one month or more
after the date the person agreed to return the library equipment,
the failure to return is a violation of this code. However, the
Library shall make a reasonable attempt to reclaim the materials
or equipment; a reasonable attempt shall include the mailing by
restricted certified mail of notice that such material or
equipment is overdue and legal actions will be taken.
The director of the library, and his or her designee, shall
have authority to issue citations for any violations of this
subsection.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa, on the 28th day of March, 1988, and approved by
the Mayor on the 30th day of March, 1988.
