HomeMy WebLinkAbout3621-02.13.1989 ORDINANCE NO. 3621 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 1988 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, BY REPEALING SUBSECTION 14-59 , FEES ESTABLISHED, AND SUBSECTION 14-62 , SUNSET PROVISION, OF ARTICLE III , FIRE PREVENTION INSPECTIONS, OF CHAPTER 14, FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION; AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SUBSECTION 14-59, FEES, AND SUBSECTION 14-62 , SUNSET PROVISION, OF ARTICLE III , FIRE PREVENTION INSPECTIONS, OF CHAPTER 14 , FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, as follows: That Subsection 14-59, Fees Established, and Subsection 14-62, Sunset Provision, of Article III , Fire Prevention Inspections, of Chapter 14, Fire Prevention and Protection, of the 1988 Code of Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, are hereby repealed in their entirety; that new Subsections 14-59 , Fees, and 14-62 , Sunset Provision, of Article III , Fire Prevention Inspections, of Chapter 14 , Fire Prevention and Protection, of the 1988 Code of Ordinances of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, are hereby enacted in lieu thereof as follows: Sec. 14-59 . Fees. (a) The following fees shall be established for the permits, certificates, approvals, and other functions performed under this Code and shall be payable to the City of Waterloo. Such fees shall accompany each application for such permit, approval, certificate, or other fee-related Code provisions. ( 1) FEE SCHEDULE FOR FIRE PREVENTION INSPECTION A sliding fee schedule will be developed according to square footage of the building, which will also be classified by the relative hazard of the occupancy, i.e. low hazard (LH) , ordinary hazard (OH) , or high hazard (HH) . Low hazard occupancies shall be as defined in Division 4 of Section 701 , Uniform Building Code. Ordinary hazard occupancies shall be as defined in Division 1 , 2 and 3 of Section 701 , Uniform Building Code. High hazard occupancies shall be as defined in Section 901 of the Uniform Building Code. The fee is to be based upon the estimated time spent in each occupancy grouping and will reflect research time and multiple inspections. The removal of above or below ground flammable liquid storage tanks will require a permit from the Waterloo Fire Department, with a fee of $25 . 00 for each tank removed. (b) All fees and charges required by this Article, if not paid within sixty ( 60) days, shall constitute a lien upon the premises served by said service and may be certified to the County Treasurer and collected in the same manner as taxes. Sec. 14-62. Sunset provision. Section 14-59 , supra, shall expire on June 30, 1990 , unless reinstated by the City Council prior to said date.
